I'm very sorry you guys got a bad impression of our show. I can assure you all judging was done by nationally respected judges with no persuasion from anyone inside our club. No one on the DSVC board or in the crowd had anything to do with deciding who received medals. If you'd like more information on how the judging process works, please feel free to call me: 214-500-6453. As for Chris Smith, we ask him to entertain the crowd and he does a great job even year. If you've ever been to an industry award show where the host is not entertaining, you know why we are lucky to have him.

Brandon- my suggestion to you, would be to listen to the comments before yours-take it to heart, because I truly hope no one wants to call you and speak to a dsvc robot. This was embarrassing and a waste of time for designers to apply for. I felt like I was at Dave and Busters.

Great show DSVC! Superlative work, lots of good laughs, and the Golden Egg tribute to Alan Lidji was outstanding. Look forward to next year.

The show was hilarious, and the winners outstanding and deserving. There was no "old boys club" feeling at all. Fresh work from young firms and designers dominated this year, though the real treat was just looking through all the incredible work in the show. I can't imagine sitting through hours of a dull ceremony without Chris Smith, and I hope the DSVC knows a few people without a sense of humor don't speak for everyone.

I am so sorry I couldn't attend the show this year as I had a personal conflict. I heard from many people who attended this year's show and they said it was the best ever. I can't wait to see the winners! When will they be posted to the website?

Even though I didn't apply, I heard from colleagues that they were expecting something far more sophisticated and engaging for the designers. I feel that this group needs to lower their ticket fees and application fees tremendously! if they are going to perform this way, which will ultimately allow for more widespread talent. I've seen great DSVC shows, long ago, but I was a bit awe-struck by this one..the hotheaded host, "rubber steak", questionable awards. "Nationally respected judges" -good one DSVC. How do you refute THAT?

Constructive criticism is always welcome but anonymous and hurtful rants are counterproductive. I understand the need to blow off some steam, especially if work you feel is award-worthy, was not recognized by the judges. It stinks to put effort into something that others don’t feel is as cool as you do. All I can say is that you should enter it in another show and see how it does there. There are a couple of things I would like to clarify though. The judges ARE nationally recognized. With the exception of Jimmy Williams, every one of them has judged national shows and spoken at national seminars. Those shows include, Communication Arts, AIGA, The One Show and The Clios, among others. This panel is above reproach. Another thing is, the judging is anonymous. The judges come from all over the country and have NO IDEA whose work it is they are looking at when they are judging it. That’s the simple truth and to imply otherwise is just wrong. As for the pricing, award shows are expensive and there are reasons for it. Without diving into that, I can assure you that we have done studies on the pricing and the Dallas Show is VERY competitive in comparison. Look, you may not like the food. We tried very hard to make it the best we could afford but people have different tastes. You may not like the humor (although I think Chris Smith is hilarious. He does professional stand up on the side) but I attended the Addys this year and thought The Dallas Show held it’s own quite nicely. You may think it should be a black-tie affair and this certainly wasn’t. All of those things are a matter of taste and we can’t please everyone. I can listen to those kinds of comments with an open mind but to say that the show is somehow rigged is mean-spirited and patently false. If you have a real interest in seeing how things work, volunteer. Come out and see how things are actually done. Put your name on your comments or make the call to one of the board members and discuss the issue like an adult. The Dallas Show takes a ton of time and effort, by many, many people to put on. Every single one of them is doing it for free and the only thing they receive in return is a pat on the back and the satisfaction of giving back to the design community here in DFW. If you’re sincere and not just prone to complaining, throw your hat in the ring and put your effort where your mouth is.

Sorry to have missed the show, we always have a great time. Can someone please tell us when the winners (and hopefully photos) will be posted?

The list of winners is up! There is a plan in place to add pictures of the winning pieces on the next upgrade to the web site. Not sure when that will happen but it's in the works : )
