Salary range:

$20.00 an hour - $23.91 an hour, plus a generous benefits package that includes 403(b) retirement matching that can be as much as 8 to 10 percent of your salary; tuition benefits for you and your children, and a tuition benefit reduction for a spouse; and 10 days of vacation, in addition to 13 holiday days a year

 

Job Summary:

The production photographer assists to support presentations, publications, e-marketing and other communication needs, including those in support of capital campaign initiatives and the University community.


Job Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

·         Post Production - Downloading, processing and archiving files to deliver digital archives quickly; editing and color-correcting images, applying metadata for efficient seach and identification in the Universities' DAM system; maintain photography equipment; train and oversee staff, students and freelance resources in departmental post-production processes; research and train in new software and techniques to advance the technology and efficiency of the photography department for rapid response and retrieval of images and assurance of the best quality images.

·         Photography - Collaborate with the University Photographer on event location and studio photography as needed. Photo assignments would include events, head shots and campus stock photography for use in publication, presentations, web and other communication needs, including those in support of capital campaign initiatives, student recruitment and donor recognition.

·         Administrative - Maintain standard office procedures for post production process and archiving all digital assets. Update SMU photography guidelines as needed, working with the Director of Photography. Attend staff or assignment meetings and preparing reports as required.


Job Qualifications

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree is preferred.

A minimum of one year work experience in post-production and photography is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidates must demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Must also demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in writing. A strong customer service orientation and a commitment to timely resolution of customer/client issues are essential.

Candidate must demonstrate strong problem solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems as well as devise solutions. Strong analytical skills and the ability to think collaboratively and creatively is essential.

Candidates must have strong time management, organization and planning skills with the ability to  the ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects with varying deadlines. Must also have the work autonomously with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively with others, and serve on team projects. 

Candidate must have the ability to work evenings and weekends in order to do event photography. Events are typically at night or on the weekend. Some local travel to vendors or photography assignments is also required.

Proficient creative and technical skills that include familiarity with digital camera equipment and working with RAW image formatted files in a Mac environment are essential. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in both Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. Photomechanic, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Filemaker preferred.
