A man who lived life to the fullest and brought life to his many friends has passed. Mel Shanks died last Saturday evening of a heart attack in St. Augustine, Florida.

Mel was 58 and had two wonderful daughters, Erin and Lindsey. He was an Associate Professor of Art at Flagler College. He had many friends in the DSVC during his many years in Dallas and was best known as "El Jefe" of the Los Batos Locos. He loved teaching, his friends, traveling, and adventure. But most of all, he loved life.

There will be a celebration -- "A Mexican/Irish Wake" -- this Saturday afternoon/evening at Herman Thompson Photography Studio, at 2403
Farrington in Dallas.

Plans for this most appropriate of memorials are being made at this moment. Please e-mail Mel's good friend, Bob Mynster, at bob@ravecreative.com for more information. He will reply back as details are finalized.

"You can't do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth" – Henry Louis Mencken
