Job Description

The Graphic Designer’s role is to support the planning, creation, development, maintenance, and accessibility of church-owned and generated marketing content and content-related services. This includes ensuring that the layout, positioning, navigation, and look and feel of content are consistent across and throughout the organization. The Graphic Designer will provide media development services for projects, products, and applications across the enterprise with guidance from the Director of Communications. This includes designing, building, and implementing graphics and working with the Director of Communications to integrate these with back end applications and organization’s Web sites and social platforms. Use of a variety of image manipulation software and publishing tools is essential. The contracted Graphic Designer will report to the Director of Communications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Produce attractive and effective designs across all media platforms, with a strong understanding of typography and layout
  • Participate in designing of printed promotional materials including signage, brochures, flyers, workbooks, bulletins/programs, reports, and presentation materials
  • Participate in the development and integration of graphical and multimedia components into the organization’s Web presence and mobile platform
  • Edit digital pictures and graphics in preparation for final production and deployment efforts
  • Edit existing and recurring print and digital projects
  • Ensure brand consistency across all assets
  • Ensure consistent look and feel by promoting uniform fonts, formatting, icons, images, and layout
  • Accept creative direction and constructive feedback from senior staff
  • Source images as required and preapproved by Communications Director
  • Handle multiple projects at once and prioritize them appropriately to meet deadlines
  • Abide by organization’s existing style/brand guidelines.

Job Qualifications

  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Deadline-driven with a strong sense of urgency
  • Required Technologies: Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat
  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design/Visual Communications or equivalent
  • Submission of Digital portfolio/website of current work required
  • Minimum 4 years-experience in print production - print production skills a must (proofing, pre-flighting, and preparing MAC mechanicals for pre-press)
