Survey Crew Member

Halff Associates, Inc. has a current opening for a survey crew member in our Tavares, Florida location.

This position will be on a field crew working under the direction of a Crew Chief and assisting by operating conventional and GPS survey equipment to accurately and efficiently measure topographic features and boundary evidence in support of land development, transportation, utility, energy, and land surveying projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting Survey Crew Chief in completion of all surveys
  • Carry and set up field equipment, monuments, rebar, stakes, etc..
  • Maintain survey vehicle and equipment daily
  • Ensure truck is stocked and ready for the project each day
  • Cut and clear brush and trees for survey line of sight with machete
  • Dig to recover monuments or other survey markers set by past surveyors
  • Carry out instructions and tasks assigned by Crew Chief
  • Able to learn survey equipment to assist Crew Chief with field measurements

Qualifications include:

  • High School diploma
  • 1-2 years experience working on a survey crew
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and strong ability to ensure accuracy
  • Ability and willingness to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must pass background check, drug screening, have an insurable driving record and possess a valid driver’s license
  • Understanding of computer technology required.
  • Knowledge of algebra and trigonometry a plus 
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines. 
  • Must be able to start work at 7:45 AM EST Monday through Friday,
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time
