Look Like an Illustrator

The world around you can influence the world you create. Rob talks about how the things he sees in daily life—from West Texas to New York— affect his creativity and his work.

Rob Wilson is an illustrator and graphic designer. His client list includes Dell, HarperCollins, Variety, The Wall Street Journal, AT&T, Spirit Magazine, FD, Sweet Paul Magazine, Charles Schwab and Horsethief Pictures.

He is the creator of the icon for "Welcome to Night Vale," one of the most downloaded podcasts in the world. This year he designed the cover for the the novelization of the podcast which Paste Magazine listed as one of "The 10 Best Book Covers of October." The book debuted at #4 on the New York Times Bestseller List, and has been featured in the New York Times, Huffington Post, NPR, CNN, LA Times and on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Rob's work was part of "First Things First," an exhibit of 40+ up and coming international designers at the Fab showroom in Soho during NYCXDesign Week. His illustrations were also chosen by Dutch Uncle to be included in the ArtSpace 14 Exhibition at Pan MacMillan London. Locally, his work has been shown at “El Mercado” at Erin Cluley Gallery in Dallas and is one of several artists at ReneeRhynerShop.com.

His collection of stationery, called Silas Tom Paper Goods, has been sold at Neiman Marcus, The Nasher Sculpture Center Store and Kikkerland Shop NYC and online at Postable.com

Rob’s work has appeared in many books and magazines, and has been honored by Communication Arts, AIGA, Graphis, Print, DSVC and the Type Director’s Club, among others. 

Originally from West Texas, Rob divides his time between Dallas and Brooklyn.
