Job Description

The Kimbell Art Museum is currently seeking a highly innovative, creative, and collaborative individual to manage the museum's visual identity and to create, implement, and collaborate on comprehensive campaign materials for the museum's marketing channels, including print and digital advertisements, the museum's website and social media platforms, and printed collateral. The graphic designer is also responsible for developing and overseeing the production of publications, exhibition graphics, and education materials. This position reports to the head of marketing and public relations and works closely with all departments within the museum.


Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and set the direction for the museum's visual brand identity
  • Protect the integrity of the museum's brand; ensure published and/or produced materials adhere to brand guidelines
  • Collaborate with other museum departments, including curatorial, education, and membership, to create innovative and appealing marketing campaigns for the museum and its special exhibitions
  • Design and deliver museum marketing materials, including print and digital advertising, printed invitations and collateral materials, social media graphics, and other projects as determined
  • Collaborate with curatorial and preparators to design and produce exhibition graphics
  • Collaborate with the manager of publications to design and produce the museum's biannual Calendar magazine
  • Supervise the production of, and ensure the quality of, all printed and constructed graphics
  • Manage multiple, simultaneous projects to reach targets, staying on schedule and on budget
  • Other duties as directed

Job Qualifications

  • An associate's degree in design or studio art; a bachelor's degree is preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience, including at least 3 years of experience with visual identity and brand development; experience with an agency or in-house marketing team is preferred
  • Strong layout skills, attention to detail, consistency, and the ability to work quickly while producing high-level results and meeting strict deadlines and budgets
  • Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and/or other web-editing programs on Mac required, HTML a plus
  • Applicants must have a passion for art and design, as well as a flexible and team-oriented disposition
  • Museum experience is a plus
  • Applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background and drug screening.
