About Me

Eric Venegas has been active in the Dallas design community for more than 20 years. Mr. Venegas graduated from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, with a B.A. in Fine Art and a concentration in sculpture. He began his professional career at the watch company Fossil, designing products, packaging, and collateral for Eddie Bauer, DKNY, Universal Studios, and other private-label accounts. Upon leaving Fossil, Mr. Venegas joined Banowetz + Company, Inc. as a junior designer, coming up with creative for luxury brands such as NorthPark Center, Hotel ZaZa, Mercedes-Benz of Plano, and Stanley Korshak. In 2014, Eric left the firm with the title of Creative Director / Vice President to pursue Small Hat Studio full-time.

Small Hat Studio is solely owned and operated by Eric. Mr. Venegas is a multi-disciplinary designer who wears many hats—figuratively speaking. On any given day and any given time, he is a designer, illustrator, art director, writer, production manager, or customer service representative. As needed, Eric collaborates with other creatives—including copywriters, photographers, and developers—to achieve his clients’ goals. Mr. Venegas lives in East Dallas with his wife, Katherine; their two dogs (Charlie and Pickle); and his wife’s cat (Ramsey).
