I'm a seventh-generation Texan with no hat and no boots -- a photographer, grammarian, and golfer (in no particular order). Books fascinate me in every way -- from reading them to making them to collecting them. And there's nothing I enjoy more than spending an evening with my wife and daughters.

Favorite Worst Feedback
While showing some portraits to an agency creative director, he told me that he saw no evidence that I had any expertise in lighting as all of my images were "available light." Miffed, I asked him which images he was talking about, and he flipped through the entire group, saying, "Available light. Available light. Available light!" I replied, "They are actually all lit." He shot back, "Well, I couldn't tell!" I knew that we'd never work together.
