The DSVC is launching a design competition for emerging creatives ready to showcase their raw talent! Battle your way to the top with a week-long design challenge followed by a live finale with a twist.

You can get involved TWO ways.
1. Compete in the Wrench! Wrench Week is underway. Contestants have until Friday at 7 am to submit their projects for judging. You can jump in and learn more about the brief here.
2. Attend the live finale at Tractorbeam to see Dallas' finest young designers square off. Register above.

 

 

The Wrench is not your grandma's tea party; it's a high-octane, no-holds-barred design competition that separates the rookies from the rockstars!

 

Open Entry: Are you ready to dive headfirst into the crucible of creativity? The Wrench is an open-entry, gut-wrenching showdown that will test your design prowess and demand nothing less than your absolute best. LIVE FINALE SHOWDOWN: In the presence of industry professionals and the design community alike, witness the epic climax as the top designers battle it out in a live finale that will leave you on the edge of your seat. The Wrench is not just a showcase; it's a spectacle of skill, style, and sheer determination! The winner will be awarded a free ticket to the Dallas Show, half off an award entry, and the coveted Golden Wrench which will stamp their name in the history books!

 

Here’s how it works:

  • Contestants must be around the first 5 years of their creative career to participate.

  • A kick-off party will be held at 7 pm on Sunday, Feb 18 at Craft & Growler - 3601 Parry Ave, Dallas, TX 75226

  • After receiving the creative brief, contestants will have 4 days to submit their project.

    • All entries must be submitted by 7 am Friday, Feb 23  *Late entries will be disqualified from the live finale.

  • Finalists for the live finale will be selected by DSVC board members and announced by noon Friday, Feb 23

  • The live finale will begin at 7 pm Friday, Feb 23 at Tractorbeam - 1526 S Good Latimer Expy Suite 130, Dallas, TX 75226

  • During the finale contestants will receive a dramatic change to the creative brief, we call it THE WRENCH. Contestants must adapt to the wrench LIVE in front of an audience. 

  • Finalists will have 1 hour to complete The Wrench’s requirements.

  • Finalists will be judged on adaptability, creativity, and the ability to work under pressure. 

  • A winner will be determined by a crowd vote.
